The picture from the 80s party's been up a while now, has anyone figured out my main inspiration for the costume? ^-^
In February the NZ members of the 501st and Rebel Legions worked with FoxNZ to promote the release of Ep1 in 3D. We did a few events, but this was our biggest one - providing entertainment/ jedi training up to the midday release of tickets to the premier.
If you're wondering where Vader is, he wasn't wanted since he's just a kid in the film

With the launch of the Star Wars Kinect game over the next week I'll be getting painted up as Aayla twice. While it's a tedious process, I do love dressing as Aayla, and the hours spent getting painted have always paid off
Will be able to get more shots with the Paradise AQ paint, but I'm fairly certain that this is the brand to stick with!
One of the events may have Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) there.
I'm currently making 2 Imperial Royal Guard costumes for some friends, and will post progress shots here as they're put together! I always thought of Royal Guards as being a very 'basic' costume, but after digging around for info found they're actually quite interesting. They appear in 3 of the Star Wars movies (I think?) and the robes differ quite a bit in each one. I'll be doing the Ep3 version, which looks like it's the least movement-restrictive of the 3 versions (has 4 slits all around, the other versions just have 2, or 1). It so happens that I've ended up with enough extra velvet for an additional robe, so for now am considering a RG costume for myself... See how I feel about it after finishing the 2 commissions! It would be nice to add another costume to my 501st profile...

So it's been a while since I've done anything major here, but I've been busy elsewhere setting up new social media accounts to get my work showcased (and more frequently than things happen on here!)

Next Journey - Lara Croft
There are a few costumes I've said I'm doing over the past couple of years but have never quite got around to doing. I'm happy to say that I'm currently working on a costume that will definitely be seen through to the very end!
That costume, as you may have figured from my last couple of photos (and the title of this post) is a Lara Croft outfit (specifically from the 2013 'Reborn' game).
I like to challenge myself with each costume that I do, and although at first this costume looks quite simple (a couple of tank tops, cargo pants, and an assortment of weapons and props), there is a lot more to it than appears. The biggest challenge for me
Please Vote for Me!
This year I decided to enter my Aayla Secura costume in the Replica Prop Forum's Halloween Costume contest for 2012!

I want a Steampunk outfit
I've always thought Steampunk is cool, but never really put much thought into an outfit for myself. Guess it's because I'm used to recreating existing costumes and not doing originals, but then that's the fun and beauty of designing your own outfit - you can design it however you like and no one will critique you if details are inaccurate because there's nothing to base their critiques off of. Been looking at and saving lots of images, watch this space ;)
Now that Royal guard commissions are done, I can focus on my own costumes again, which means I can do some solid work on Korra. I've got various bits and pieces, will keep building up suppl
